I was mostly a Windows user before and I find this behavior annoying. So
much so that I right click when renaming. To those who propose that we
cater to the Windows crowd well I'm part of that crowd (but mainly for
games now) and you don't know for sure if there are more users who like
this feature

Hi, might be useful to find root-cause: we kept running into this Kernel bug
triggered by docker somehow until deactivating IPv6. I have not seen it since

that the USB_DEVICE_WACOM(HID_ANY_ID) catch-all rule should be

is to just install a more recent kernel. The rest will depend on the X
driver settings.

I fixed this problem by booting with a grub 2 disk. I changed the grub 2
command line to vga=normal.
I removed quiet and splash to skip the unviewable boot splash.
This allows the garbled characters to be seen.
I have an hvr-1600 card in the box so I guess it is still subject to the boot
hang
I also have 7300 LE and get the exact same screen on boot up of a new
installation.
I also get it if I move a working install on a 6200 nvidia from a system
with a flat panel monitor to an old analog vga monitor.
It would seem to be the nvidia X driver.

The resolution can only get up to 800x600 while the "nv" driver can do
1280x1024.
By editing my xorg.conf I got it working again for [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

We now find that after a reboot, the first suspend and resume cycle
takes long: after pressing enter in the password screen it takes about
60 seconds to either log that
The first time it takes 60 seconds to log in, and it seems that
networking is broken during that time.
Subsequent logins take only three seconds, and also see almost no
downtime in networking.

Yes, it takes roughly 60 seconds before networking is started.
Hibernation would not be an option for us, the hardware is capable of
resuming, and the subsequent attempts show that it should be able to do
so quickly.
Attached is a log again of login, suspend, and resume cycles.

Just a note, I'm not 100% certain that it was completely broken before
the bios update. It could very well be that it had the same 60 second
delay. Then again, that long a delay means broken in my eyes anyway. No
user is going to wait that long to log back in every time his system
