.. ok it is not critical at all. Solved by removing
~/.config/softwarecenter/softwarecenter.cfg

What can I do to remedy this bug?
I still cannot get my fax, scanner, copier settings to work through
Ubuntu. They DO work with the dashboard of the device, so the Canon
MX310 is not at fault, just its throughput to the laptop. (My laptop
using Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS is a HP Pavilion dv5120us)

site and learning about Linux. This is not an easy OS to configure and
