My problem now is how to prevent! yesterday I upgrade the kernel to
2.6.31-15-generic and, after doing this, impossible to boot. So I
decided to reinstall but ubuntu version I downloaded did not include the
new kernel so that I had to upgrade another time. Afret upgrading,
whithout doing anithing e
#76. I think I could make the kernel upgrade working without livecd.
Only "grub-install hd0" and "update-grub". Would like to know if I am
just lucky or it's a good solution for kernel upgrade in the future.

Sorry for the delay. Yesterday I had the same problem. Now I realized
that the flie grub.cfg (or something like that) desappeared from its
natural directory (c/ubuntu/disks/boot/grub). Hope this can help. This
Installed with wubi 9.10 and all semms to work fine. After an upgrade
(apt-get upgrade) impossible to boot: kernel panic Need a rapido
solution I cannot install once a day!

The same happens to me with a Radeon 9250.
When a 3d app pops up, xorg freezes.
(I must say that I experienced freezes with an ATI X600 at work, too)
My system is an updated Gutsy tribe 5.
I solved the issue downgrading to
xserver-xorg-video-ati_6.6.3-2ubuntu6_i386.deb from Feisty.
So it's a reg
I said "no freezes anymore".
Well, I was wrong.
X continues to freeze, albeit with lesser frequency.
The computer works, the cursor moves, but no click and no keyboard is possible
as if focus was stolen...
I am rather sad.

1) I tracked the visualization problem to the LyX script convertDefault.py
The convert command from Imagemagick is called to convert the pdf image to ppm.
This is an example of convert command, that LyX script sends to
