After a while, even not doing anything, selecting an item in the "open with"
sub-menu does not launch the choosen program and nothing appends.
As far as I can tell, it does not seems to be Compiz related. I don't know how
to reproduce this behaviour for sure, it just appends

Exactly same behaviour for me when editing a "alt" tag .. gedit process
consumes all CPU, eventually freezing the whole gnome session, just
mouse moves and crtl+alt+backspace allows to restart the session .. once
the session is re-opened, I have to kill the CPU-consuming gedit process

Thank for the link, however, it seems that the problem is not the same
... mine leads to a complete session hangup exept for the mouse, but
without UI slowdowns before that.

After a few more tests, it seems that the issue might be related to a
gnome session problem, and that progressive crashes occurs when high-
loading the session or other gnome programs ... i've seen that bug witch

Mysterious segfault of
I tried that one allready, but using nv driver is worse. Resume gives me
a black screen, no mouse nor keyboard and hard reboot necessary. I think
it's another issue ...

I solved my problem .. it seems that with Hardy, ACPI-support is now delegated
to pm-utils and Nvidia-kernel drivers doesn't mix so well with it. Following
the recommendations of Vlowther in

file /etc/pm/config
