Got talkd working using the patch(s) on Jaunty 32-bit Desktop. Does not work
on stock Jaunty 32-bit Server. I just get the "Checking for invitation on

OK, I removed the old talkd package that was not working under 32-bit
server with 'sudo apt-get purge talkd'. Then I used the new patch,
recompiled and installed. After install, I restarted the inetd. It
still does not work, although now I get a new error: [Your party is not
logged on] and a fe

Update: Upgrading to Linux version 2.6.28-13-generic did NOT fix the
problem. Using a non-linux operating system or a kernel from Ubuntu
8.04 makes the errors stop. No SMART errors reported from the hard
drive.
