I have a x1800gto and the xserver-xorg-video-ati in intrepid causes a
blank/black screen right after the usplash. in hardy it worked perfectly, but
even using 6.9.0 in hardy caused a blank screen.

i also attached my xorg.conf if that help.
just extra info. im using a dvi cable to connect it to a lcd monitor (samsung
226bw)
the radeonhd driver works but has no 3d so i really want the ati/radeon driver
to work

the worst part is, i installed the new card, then started my computer

k well tried it and now it took me up to a beige screen with dri enabled
and then froze. but i also noticed this line in xorg.conf
RADEON(0): Option "Virtual" is not used
ill attach my xorg.conf and xorg.0.log

i just updated hardy and now instead of a blank screen it gave red and
white lines. when i put an old live cd in to get the xorg.0.log and
xorg.0.log.old off it looks like xorg didn't load since they both have
only data from radeonhd booting up which is what i was using previously
to boot into hard
bryce, i tried that and it resulted in the same beige screen. thanks

also its doing this weird thing now where the screen doesnt refresh
often at all. ill move a window and it wont move til i minimize and
enlarge again

so now im writing from my laptop.
i looked at the xorg.conf and saw these lines
(II) RADEON(0): Max desktop size set to 2560x1600
(II) RADEON(0): For a larger or smaller max desktop size, add a Virtual line to
your xorg
