No, nothing has changed... no WMF support in Hardy... just make sure I
have all the latest updates to 8.04. Neither gThumb nor Nautilus can
find a viewer for this type of graphic file. Please keep trying to fix
this area. Thanks!

When I click on a WMF file I get an error msg: "There is no application
installed for this file type"; I don't see any change in memory usage
because the wmf file was not loaded.
GIMP will load and view wmf files but I don't see anything unusual
regarding memory usage.
How does one view wmf files
well, Nautilus doesn't show the thumbnail icos its window display. The error
comes when I click on the dummy thumbnail. I would think that Nautilus should
point to a viewer. It did in Edgy, or Feisty, not in Gutsy or Hardy.

but I was using a workaround to attach items so... thanks for your good

Well, GIMP seems to have a solution, as it can read WMFs just fine. They
may have their own code.
All this came about when 7.04 became 7.10. It would seem to be a lib not
being attached or loaded correctly.

In previous versions of Ubuntu there was a file that could be accessed
with "fonts:///" in Nautilus. Such doesn't exist in Hardy 64-bit, latest
updates, 8 April.

Yes, yes... easy to create the .fonts folder in the home directory, and
then just add fonts to the folder. But, what then shows is the font file
name and not the font name. A small issue but still an issue. Certainly
the gvfs structure will add the font names when it gets fully converted

Well, neither Nautilus nor gThumb render WMF files in Gutsy. They did in
Feisty and still do. There must be a plug-in somewhere that is left out

Sopmething that might be of help, GIMP does render WMFs. I cannot find
anything that handles the image/x-wmf filetype. A look into what Feisty

Adam, WMFs were rendered in Feisty and Edgy, they stopped in Gutsy. That

I have this same issue with both 12.04 and 12.10... don't think it's a
kernel problem. Using ctrl-alt-F1 at boot-up black screen and using
terminal to issue these: sudo service lightdm restart immediately
brings up the desktop, Unity3D, Intel HD3000, dual SSDs, 8GB RAM.
Seems the parsing of test
I installed gdm and selected it instead of lightdm, rebooted and login
went directly to desktop, hi-res, 3DUnity.
Issue points to how tests is made to determine video card speed.

Intermittent low graphics mode with Intel HD
I've tested this with SSD boot on 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04, all with
success, no issues:
Place this line in /etc/rc.local just before exit 0:
sleep 2 && service lightdm restart
This works everytime for me and my setup. Should give a clue to the
programmers as to what can solve the issue.
