I personally encounter a similar issue with my MX4 from the beginning (OTA 8 I
think), but upgrade after upgrade it becomes more and more significant.
I didn't notice this for Wifi, but for mobile networks (not only 3G).
I also didn't pay attention to the sleeping time.

Mobile networks fail to reconnect after a long sleep, and switching airplane
mode off/on solves this issue.
