Same problem with Gateway M-6319 laptop from Costco.

works for the function keys but the brightness applet for panel doesn't
work still.

Gateway M-6319 has similar problem. Brightness doesn't work by either function
keys nor brightness applet.

Gateway laptop M-6319 microphone doesn't work at all.

I think I have a related problem. The issue is reversed, I cannot
mount ntfs windows partitions "you are not privileged to mount this
volume" This is an important bug.

this by asking for a password only, and not show "you are not privileged
..."
