have observed, since I'm doing stuff (that might be going into some very
rare infinite loop) while handling the ConfigureNotify X event, which
gets fired on every mouse click. But why this would only happen on this
specific group
Yeah, as far as my debugging goes, the freeze isn't happening at least
within the animation plugin code. And it's apparently not an infinite
loop, since the cpu usage remains minimal.
So, reading GhePeU's comment, I guess the problem will go away with
xserver 1.4. Will there be any chance of that

"compiz". When you see the results, for each already installed package
there, install the corresponding -db
I have the same random freeze problem with the current gutsy. It happens
with desktop effects enabled within 1/2 hour of use. I am using the
default "ati" open source driver. This is on an X300 Mobility Radeon.
Disabling dri and glx effectively disables desktop effects and "fixes"
the problem. But

I'm using Xgl + Compiz Fusion on fglrx, and I see this issue once or twice a
day (at least since May 2007) on Feisty. I attached the full dmesg log right
after the problem appeared, if it helps. The stuck key combination was Alt-Tab
this time. It happens with other keys too.

card, a Pentium M 1.86GHz processor, ipw2200 wireless driver connected
via wireless.

Just tried out Hardy Alpha 3. Unfortunately the issue is still there. It
locked up after about 30 minutes, freezing everything but the mouse
pointer. This was on a Dell Inspiron 6000.

Compiz running. In one freeze I could move the pointer, in the other I
couldn't. ssh'ing in from another machine, both times CPU was at ~0% and

Tried fglrx 7.12 on a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Mobility X300, 1680x1050
native-res LCD, Ubuntu Gutsy. Stand by and Hibernate finally both work
with Gutsy (survived 9 stand by's in a row). Before 7.12, when I tried
to suspend, it would stop indefinitely at a black screen. Now it works

All right, this is due to the destination disk being formatted as FAT32
(factory default) which doesn't allow files larger than 4GB. nautilus
should detect this case and warn me before it starts copying any files
(if there are multiple ones) instead of crashing.

I can't reproduce this either. This is with latest compiz packages on
Ubuntu 9.10, Nvidia GPU.

You should be able to resize windows beyond work area edges with Alt +
Middle click (by default), which can be configured in Resize plugin
options in ccsm. Does that work there?
Resizing by dragging window borders is limited to work area by Compiz to
prevent window edges from becoming inaccessible

Setting to enable suspend on lid-close with external
I just noticed that SPL and ZFS is not needed as DKMS with hwe kernels -
I do not know in which version it was included as kernel module.
Simply removing dkms for zfs and spl solved the problem.
apt remove zfs-dkms spl-dkms
(if it is not needed for older kernels)

I have the same problem.
The workaround using "/snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-
browser/chrome" would link to the correct dash icon. But the app-

Found out that my laptops charging port is (partially) broken and will
be changed by guarantee. The laptop is actually charging but with a
extremely low power, that's why it shows such long batery lifetimes.
This bug can be closed. Windows reported discharging state, too.

I solved it.
I opened /etc/apt/auth.conf and changed the username.
The username stored there was my Yahoo mail username and I changed it to
my Launchpad username.
It probably happened because I switched my email from Yahoo to Gmail for
my Ubuntu One account.

Actually, this is more a misuse than a bug. If I haven't deleted the
default email address which I also used to log in to Ubuntu One, it
wouldn't have happened.
