With kernel 2.6.30-10 this wifi worked so well the led light on the
front of the laptop worked for the first time in 2 years. Now

doesn't work on acer aspire 3680.
I have a slide switch on the front of the pc for wifi. slide it off then slide
it on, locks computer down completely. no mouse even. Have to force off then
restart comp.
Also tried already having it turned off then turning it on after booting
completes. s
sudo modprobe -r -f ath5k
sudo modprobe ath5k
does do something, but doesn't enable wireless. When I first log in to
the system my wireless says disabled, after running these two commands
it says "device has no manager"
any ideas?

couple of unfortunatelys
1, installing backports knocked out my wifi even for the the kernel i was
connecting with (2.6.30-10), the only difference is my network manager is able
to see available connections AND connect to them, but there is no communication
between the wifi an
update, after reboot out of jaunty live cd, kernel 30-10 has wifi again,
31-2 still doesn't. holding off on reinstall

thank you rodrigo, my problem is that
modprobe -r -f ath5k
modprobe ath5k
don't do anything for me. Still no wireless.
working on installing the latest from wireless.kernel.org but ran into a
little snag, have posted on the ubuntu dev forums for help
make works in kernel 30-10 but not in 31-1 or
OK, Lot's of help from wayne_cat and one of the peeps from wireless.org.
At the suggestion of their install page I also removed linux-backports
before "sudo make install".Was able to build and install compat-
wireless-2009-07-12.tar.bz2 then rebooted the computer but still no
wireless.

Works for me now too the way it should, just works.
Thank you for fixing this, hard on a truck driver out here, no wire
connections: ever.

happens to me to , no wpa or wep. open connections, click to connect
and the name of it dissapears and turns to unknown network but won't
connect
nm-applet works fine even while in K definitely a plasma network
manager issue

Interesting... While running the kernel that wifi works (.30-10) for me state
is 1, but when I load the kernel that wifi doesn't work (31-2) state is 0
I tried to change it to 1 but permissions wouldn't let me
I also tried to sudo gedit the file, but it still wouldn't let me save it
How do I
ill result. Hoping this will help with what is really going wrong on the
ath5k systems

Software-center does not work in kubuntu

easy step by step work around is
in terminal
sudo mkdir -p /etc/opt/chrome/native-messaging-hosts
sudo ln -s /usr/share/plasma-browser-integration/chrome/native-
messaging-hosts/org.kde.plasma.browser_integration.json
/etc/opt/chrome/nativ
before applying update typed latte and discover crashed...
after applying update and restart computer, typed latte in discover and
no crash.
Fix works here.

I just noticed in plasma discover > configure sources, there is no way to
select what upgrade cycle you want.
such as whether it tells you there is a new version for each lts only or if
there is a new version for all versions.
with previous versions (muon) you could select
same problem here, actually on 2 of my computers
but can only file once i'd reckon so here's one of them

found a work around. I removed libreoffice-kde and install libreoffice-
gtk (which will also install libreoffice-gtk2). Launch libreoffice as
normal and the icons and menus are working properly. I then uninstalled
libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-gtk2 and reinstalled libreoffice-kde
which reproduced
I have also encountered this and I can verify that Juliens workaround did
indeed work
with only 1 exception, I needed only do the command one time. The second time
it said it was already unmounted
$ sudo umount /run/udisks2/inhibit-polkit

same here cept on laptop I set LVDS1 as primary at 1366x768 and
secondary at 1024x768. Doesn't save and after restart both displays are
mirrored at 1024x768. Works perfectly in oneiric. Definitely a
regression.

Been testing with and without 'enable solver' enabled. if enabled seems
to crash most of the time you can win this hand. If not enabled, so far
hasn't crashed for a week solid. I'd have to say definitely in the
enable solver code.
