In Kubuntu Jaunty, using a Logitech Access Keyboard, the left arrow
does nothing.
By specifying the Access keybd, this worked in Hardy and also in
Intrepid. Specifying the Access keybd in Jaunty does not work.

There seems to be confusion in the location where PID files are to be
placed.
For example, in /var/run are many PID files and these show up in
'systems settings' as currently 'running'.
However, many PID files are contained in directories off of /var/run such as
vsftpd/. On my 8.04 Hardy syst
(Hardy) I am currently unable to install many of the Openoffice
modules, including the updates that are available.
The error is that dpkg cannot unpack the modules/updates because
'liblzma.so.0' is not found. I have been unable to find any such lib.

Running Jaunty and installed the grub-pc package. This should have
allowed me to chain load into grub2 or just load with grub1 as always.
The grub-pc package changed all of the:

statements to be:

This is somewhat of a show stopper for me in switching from another
distro to Kubuntu. Yet it doesn't seem to have much importance. Just
casting my vote for a fix.

I have been bothered by this problem repeatedly so I finally took the
following steps:
ln -s /dev/null syslog
ln -s /dev/null kern.log
That should take care of most of the problem. Why is it taking so long
to fix this and why did it happen in the first place?

karmic partition as bootable. Other systems such as 9.04 are found but

independently (both Jaunty and intrepid along with karmic). And all
updates to karmic have been applied.

Would like to have this submittal closed. In further testing, the
problem did not exist when VLC was run by a totally new user. Thus the
problem must lie within my old and possibly corrupt /home
configuration(s). I have since rebuilt the entire /home.

Having same wicd problem (dbus error - - logfile is empty) on
13.04-i386 with all updates applied. The symlink change didn't help at
all. And 13.04 has now been released.

Getting closer maybe.
1) I made the symlink change mentioned above but that didn't fix
anything.
2) In checking with the daemon file, I went to /var/lib/wicd and found
a similar symlink:
resolv.conf.orig --> ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf

I just ran into this on an Asrock board. Just installed a fresh 13.04
i386 and am running 3.8.0-25-generic.
I finally got 13.04 installed after many, many (of the usual) problems
but the system is now booting by using the acpi=off kernel parameter.
Without that, I get the modprobe errors.Ho

'manual partitioning' to set up or delete partitions but I do specify

Have the same problem with apt-cacher on 11.04. apt-get update hangs
at some point and either gets a timeout or a 404 'not found'.
Have switched to using apt-cacher on 10.10 on a server and that works
just fine.

2010-07-05 Tested KDE on an i386 machine after all lucid updates
were applied. The problem remains the same as stated above. The left
arrow key does not work in a KDE session, either in an xterm session or
any KDE app such as kmail.

text and makes typing almost impossible. Would like to get a screenshot
but as soon as the focus goes to another window, the artifacts are
cleared.
