This started happening to me too after I installed 8.10 on my Dell E1505
laptop. This never happened under previous Ubuntu installations.

Very disappointed to see this marked invalid. When you're saving, most
of the time you are creating a new file. The current behavior is only
helpful if you want to overwrite an existing file. It is clear to me
that the most useful behavior would be for focus to default to the
filename field.
