I'd not ship the upstream version - dpkg-reconfigure just doesn't do anything.
But its true, that the USBAUTO option is missing in the default file. Seems

That won't happen as the includes might contain architecture dependent
parts, so putting them into a -common package is impossible. Also its a
waste of space for a rather unusual use case.

program attys_scope. It's using QT for the UDP transmit and under

Your description is wrong - systemd happily handles a running gpsd in
fireground mode.
Also /etc/default/gpsd is not read by gpsd, but by systemd and the options are
passed to gpsd.
Whatever the problem is you are having, your change is not the fix for
it.
Please not that gpsd - by default - wi

Just tested with 4.8-rc4: no ethernet, no bluetooth at all and graphics
defaults to VGA only.
Booted back to the stock ubuntu xenial kernel and bluetooth/network is back up
running.
Looks to me like a massive regression.
All tested on an X220 laptop.

Not that I'm aware of. I had 32bit and 64bit versions running and it was
fine. Though I did most development under 32bit prior to 16.04 but some
