I guess it depends on personal preferences. For AucTeX upstream version,
it might be appropriate to stick with xpdf, but for a tailored Ubuntu
version, going for evince is not a bad idea.

I had the same issue on an Asus PC 1000HE with the same Atheros chip on
9.04, but the workaround gets the success rate of getting wireless up
after suspend up to roughly 90% (estimated, not measured).
On 9.10 alpha 4, this is still an issue, though wireless comes up after
suspend, but only works f

I have tried this with both 32-bit and 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10 (same
computer), and the problem only exist for 32-bit. Lirc 0.8.6.0ubuntu2.

Funny thing, when I reinstalled 64-bit to circumvent this bug, the LCD
display refuses to work, though it worked in 9.10 32-bit (when IR remote
did not work). I don't know if these are related.
My hardware is:

I upgraded to Lucid Lynx to see if it helped as it has for others here.
It did not, it made things worse. I tried switching over to wicd (it
helped on 9.10), but even that is hopeless now. I have 10 seconds of
connectivity before I loose the connection for a minute or two.

I installed kubuntu-desktop, and then using kdm, I do not have the same
issues, which should mean this is not a bug in the xorg-server/nvidia-
driver. Switching back to gdm using 'dpkg-reconfigure gdm' gets the
black screen back, switching to kdm again, and then it works fine.

I have tested on a freshly updated Lucid laptop. Closing the lid makes
the machine suspend, and subsequently opening the lid, the machine
resumes from suspend and no password has to be typed. Excellent.

I got a little but further. Recompiling digitemp without any optimization gives
me output when running

- Download digitemp-3.6.0.tar.gz
- Unpack
- Change -O2 to -O0 in CFLAGS in Makefile
