personally i think this bug was long fixed in some version of cifs.
i am not using precise anymore, and am not aware of any problems for now.
but i cannot speak for other people who were affected by this bug.

same here. funny thing: if i remove password line in credentials, it asks for
the password first, then tells me "invalid argument",
if i leave password line, it directly goes to invalid argument.

dont know what exactly produced the strange bug,
installed ossv4 (was not installed?!) and some similar packages,
now works as expected, pulseaudio as well as alsa.
maybe during the upgrade the oss-packages were removed.

thanks, i've removed the oss-stuff again, an reinstalled everything else.
for now it works, and i promise not to file bugs again--
still, for me the upgrade process was strange, as it obviously _at least_
changed the preferred output from internal --> hdmi.

dont know where exactly this comes from.
