After return from suspend state the screen flickers like hell. So it becomes
unusable.

I just reinstalled Ubuntu Mate 20.04. It is working. After apply updates it
crashes. So there must be something serious happen during update.
BTW: Audio part is not affected "mpv --no-video" is working.

For me (core m5 6th generation) I noticed that mpv/celluloid is crashing
after an update of ubuntu mate 20.04. Could reproduce by reinstalling
(works) and update (crash). Unfortunatly I don't know what and how to
revert.

Guess I found the reason for this misbehaviour. To use xbacklight I
changed a X11 config file and started the intel driver instead of the
standard modesetting driver. This causes the issue. Back to standard
driver mpv/celluloid runs without the above workaround.

This bug disappears if I go back from intel x driver to standard
modesetting driver. I didn't to that intenionally. I haven't been aware
of that, but to get xbacklight working (to change screen brightness) I
activated that. After removing that change in /etc/X11 mpv/celluloid
works without this var

I did have same problem:
You can do this workaround:
add in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf this line
"blacklist atl1c"
and do in terminal:
"sudo update-initramfs -u"
I found this in forum and it works for me. I just repeat this, I don't
understand the mechanism behind that.

I got jack sensitive stereo sound on headphone. After unplug I had sound on
speaker again. After a 2nd plugin/plugout I have no speaker sound anymore -
Thanks for your hints! We come a bit closer.
Indeed this helps to get sound out of headphone. Unfortunatly there is just the
left signal on both ears.
After unplug the headphone the loudspeaker doesn't start again.
Also the internal Micro seems to keep off working.

I haven't test this multiple times and after restart. But this is the first
time I get sound from Micro!. Although I boosted settings to max it could be
louder, but at least there is sound and I could plugin/out headphone multiple
times.

Thanks for referring. Probably you are right - at least partly.
But at least on of the issues ( mixing a mono signal out of left and
right, as there is just a mono speaker inside) is special for this ACER

It seems that the i915 intel grafic driver in newer kernels (observed with 5.3)
doesn't support energy saving.
How do I know that? Using powertop shows in idle tab the GPU - and this shows
only : GPU power on 100% - no rc6 or deeper states are used.

cpu-cores
For some strange reason also the packet (summery?) shows in all states 0%,
although I can observe the individual CPU cores are in different power states.
