2.6.17-10-generic... The laptop freezes every time I undock it. Nothing can
unfreeze it except a 'hard reboot' (long press on the start button).

It is not a camera or card issue (tried with another one). Under windows a new
created photo shows correct date. There is write access to the card in Linux. I
can see that unmount is sometimes delayed if using cards that are full of
pictures.
Also I get a shift each time I add a new picture and
A friend could identify the issue and repeat that on Kubuntu 20.04. The
reason seems to be the filesystem on sd-card. With FAT32 there is no
problem, but bigger cards - beginning with 64GB - use exFAT. After
sudo apt-get install exfat-utils
the issue is gone :)

Mh, tearing seems to be a widespread issue. Regarding the duplicates:
- I am not using intel driver but modesetting driver.
- Don't have a second screen active.
- Tearing is not limited to full screen applications.

True but on the other hand this (Ubuntu 20.04) are LTS distros. This
will affect poeple at least for more than 3 years. But I understand, the
new stuff (Wayland) is more of interest for dev than fixing the old one.

I am a bit disappointed of no progress here. Pushed system to recent
state - kernel 5.4.0-40 and other updates.
Issue keeps. I think that at least all Sandylake chips are suffered.
My workaround so far is adding
"MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965"
to ~/.profile
(Old OpenGL Driver (i965)

As for me there are 2 ways to get rid of flickering, but both are not make me
happy:
Either in grub add:
- GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="intel_idle.max_cstate=4"
or (that is new to me)
- change screen resolution(!?!) Anything else than 1920x1080 works! If I can
add custom resolutions I would play with tha
