If I insert an audio CD (pre-recorded standard music CD) then Parole comes up,
but this is quickly followed by the error message:
GStreamer backend error
Could not handle CDDA URI
and the CD fails to play.
I am using a clean (and updated) installation of Xubuntu 14.04.

I agree with comment #5. I am using Xubuntu 14.04, and I'm not using
compiz as far as I know, but I am still experiencing this non-resize
problem with update-manager. Can someone explain why this has been
marked as a compiz problem and why it has been marked as Invalid for

just because it is fixed in a mainline kernel. Mainline kernels are for
trying things out and this "fix" will not propagate into normal 12.04

I'm slightly puzzled as to why this bug hasn't received more attention,
since not being able to access the internet is a major problem. Surely
that's a dealbreaker for most people? So I'm wondering if for some

I have the same problem with a Z20T-C (Z20T-C-11H m7-6y75).
I am using Ubuntu 18.04.3 (kernel 5.0.0-32-generic).
I updated to BIOS 6.30, but unfortunately this didn't make any
difference.

It's a pity - it's a great laptop apart from this problem, but not being
able to shut the lid without losing sound is a significant drawback. It
wouldn't be so bad if there were a workaround of some sort, but I've not
seen one and I don't know how to go about looking for one.

This fault also occurs for me with Ubuntu 20.04. I have 3 x 4G sticks.
Any single stick in any slot and the Ubuntu-bundled memtest runs fine.
More than one stick will result in the Ubuntu-bundled memtest freezing
(at exactly the same point each time). The memory is good, as determined
by Memtest86+
