Sorry, I'm extremely new to Ubuntu and error reporting. I forgot to
mention that when I select shutdown, the computer displays my prompt and
I have to manually shut it off, no big deal, but still an issue, Thanks

Thanks for the links, unfortunately they have seemed to help a little,
but not curing the problem. Since grub 1.97 does away with the menu.lst
file, so I added the specified lines to the /etc/default/grub file as
well as the line to the /etc/modules, as stated in the link.
I now get to the point

One additional thing I noticed, when I "restart" the computer my power
button light does go off. I don't know if this will help, but it may.
