Ok, I was able to reproduce the problem here. The problem is that I need
to set STARTTIME in /etc/init.d/dicod to a proper amount of seconds to
allow dicod to start.

I try to delete a message a box flashes up stating that messages could
not be moved or copied to folder trash because writing to folder failed.
To gain disk space choose empty trash and compact folders.
I have tried doing this and nothing has happened.

I am using Ubuntu karmic with latest kernel updates (from karmic-

doesn't show any access points to connect to.

I think the problem originally reported is because you were installing
kernel headers & sl-modem-source at the same time, seems that DKMS tried
to compile sl-modem kernel module before the kernel headers were
actually installed. I think I should have the kernel headers in the
PreDepends of sl-modem

This is actually a bug with libgsasl package, it should depend on
libgcrypt. That was actually fixed at Debian in libgsasl 1.4.0-2

Please note that according to the beep recording that I attached
(beep.ogg), the HDA PC beep is not a clean note.
Another issue in using HDA for PC beep, is that if for example I plug
the headphone, the PC beep will come into the headphone not the PC
speaker.
