you might read my first comment and see why *on notebooks* this is an
issue: on most notebooks numlock turns half the keyboard to numbers
(u->4, i->5, o->6) and if your password contains those letters you are
stuck without knowing why.

and, you are right, this is not an issue on keyboards with a separate number

Now i can often reproduce the cpu-eating oooqs.
It appears to come around, when i send to tray my database form.
(as soon as i start oooqs thin wont really work any more.)
Later strange things happen:
- exit oooqs
- kill all oo* and soffice* processes
- start oooqs

any more.

- didnt manage to unlock the screen after un-hibernating
- gave up and did a poweroff by force

I have been working for years now with ipw2200 (centrino) networking
/kubuntu NM on my wep encrypted network.
just today strange things happened:
- NM showed wireless networks, but when trying to connect, it stopped at "28%"

i can confirm that this problem occurs in lucid version of distributions
Kubuntu and Xubuntu.

the relevant line 8 of /etc/cron.weekly/apt-xapian-index is (where $CMD is

to help nepomuk with indexing).
this background process has niceness 0 according to ps.
i think as a background indexer it should have maximum niceness of 19.

i had exactly the same problem. eveything worked fine after i added the
following setting in k3b:
options > Programs > userdefined-parameters > cdrecord
dev=/dev/sg1:1,0,0

the key was the line:
>Error trying to open /dev/sg0 exclusively (Permission denied)
(where sg0 is NOT the CDRW b
the original issue is solved for me after the latest upgrade.
