Using default ubuntu Feisty 7.04
What happens:
Keyboard does not respond to any keypress.
Mouse cursor can be moved, can left click, not left click, cannot click menu's
of any kind anymore, ie: the menu does not appear.
I had the luck to have a shortcut to System Monitor, so
Well, I stopped using Ubuntu and I'm using another pc, so I can't really say.

I have onboard sound (via82xx) and an PCI soundcard, an Audigy SE
(ca0106)
I disabled onboard sound in my BIOS, yet it's still enabled.
Someone on the forum pointed me to a quick workaround:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
add the following lines:
options snd-via82xx i

I have the same problem, using a Freecom hdd enclosure with a Samsung 400gb hdd.
While watching DVDs or copying large files to it.
The drive is formatted with NTFS, I've mounted it with ntfs-3g in Feisty .

Compiling the 12rc alsa-driver gave me sound, but no microphone boost
option.
I did get a microphone slider which allowed me to increase microphone
volume capturing up to a level I needed.
