I found a solution on Debian bug report :
running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure hplip" solved the problem.
It should be noted that running "dpkg --pending --configure" didn't solve it.

I just upgraded to hardy and at reboot, the system did an fsck, but it was
nicely integrated in the graphical boot and it was saying that pressing "esc"
key would cancel it.
