I installed the package pavucontrol and now my sound works.
I had to change the OUTPUT.
Applications->Sound & Video->Pulse Audio Volume Control
Select tab "Configuration"
I then changed between the different profiles until audio came out.
The profile I am currently using is "Output Analog Steeo +
