I've tested it on my Hardy as you suggested after enabling backports and
making a full update with it. No changes.
I mean after setting BOOTLOGD_ENABLE=yes in /etc/default/bootlogd and
setting bottlogd to be started at boot time nothing was logged on my
machine.

2.6.24-18). No icons created when a partition is auto-mounted at any
system file point except /media, in which case the icon creation is

I desabled fglrx and switched to use Open Source ATI driver the problem
has gone. Thus the problem without any doubts in fglrx driver.

refresh/reshuffling of the applets. Once that happens, it's like the
hot corners end up "behind" every other layer.

Well, I am afraid it is still an issue in Ubuntu. More of this,
considering the date (2009-12-19) Bryce made his comment of a fix
released, it looks like the this fix actually brought this problem to my

configuration somehow get screwed up along with some other components

This fixed the issue for me and now the update to the latest kernel version
allowed me to get into the vm-machine.
However, I still notice that during the boot, I see the red message "Failed to
load kernel modules".
Don't know it is related to the same bug.
