I can confirm I have the same issue. Someone from the Ubuntu+1 irc
channel directed me to here. I can post some pics later if we want more
of what the issue looks like. If you need any other info from me let me
know.

I get the same exact look at Ripps. Says [Invalid UTF-8] where my User
Name should be.

Figured I'd chime in again with my system specs...
Mobo: Abit Ab9
CPU: c2s 6600
RAM: 2 gigs
GPU: Ati 4830
HDD: 7200 RPM 250 gig SATA
Also I'm dual booting with Windows 7 using grub on 11.04 64bit regular
disc install (not wubi).

I can only type prin and it hangs before I get to the t every time.
