I have a SATA port multiplier, Sil3726 based which works fine in Jaunty
(LiveCD) but breaks under Karmic.
The multiplier seems to be recognised, but then when the drives get
detected they appear to cycle between 1.5GBit and 3GBit link speed

While running workrave and pulseaudio, whenever workrave plays a sound
it creates a new playback stream in pulseaudio which does *not* go away.
In padevchooser's volume controller fiddler I can see a huge list of

I'm not certain if I'm having the same trouble as you, but mdadm fell
over pretty hard for me on 2.6.24-16-server, mdadm - v2.6.3 - 20th
August 2007 when expanding 5x500GB -> 6x500GB. I lost all the data on
the raid (oops).
Possibly this is a bug in sata_sil with lots of disk writes? 5 of the 6

Okay, poked at the problem a bit. It looks like getting an IP using dhcp
(or bootp, etc) is broken. The debian bug page (original link broken
- sorry. It links to ubuntu bug) suggests this is fixed - maybe - in a
newer version of initramfs-tools.

Yeah, turns out this was actually because of Network Manager taking down
and bringing up again eth0. That "bug" is still present.
My feisty (NFS root) install has both these files contents as "exit" to stop
network mangager mangling the network connection:

Plays fine in VLC.
What is needed to fix this is libsamplerate support tacked onto this

system, the files being stored on a server on the LAN. The client
machine (mostly) comes up, I do get a login prompt for a very short
period of time before more services decide to load and then the error

Hacked up "/etc/init.d/{avahi-daemon, dbus} with "exit 0" at the top of both
files to get them to go away and stop mucking around with the network card when
it already has an IP.

I use the in-kernel NFS root support and $HOME is just another directory
inside of that. My fstab does not have an entry for / or /home. I'm not
sure about autofs, but / never gets unmounted or remounted (Lazily or
otherwise) as far as I know...
