If the user presses a "quit" button or the "shut down" button and the
app does not really quit (and perhaps prevents the OS from shutting
down) it's windows should be closed and it's processes killed.

to wrong path. This causes weird bugs in some applets, for example
BankID, but not all.
Solved by changing the following line:
PLUGINPTH=
The problem is resolved in 12.04 - almost. In 12.04, with Spotify
running (window open or no), Ubuntu will simply pause for a few seconds
(10 to 20?) and then shutdown normally. Only a minor nuisance any way
you look at it.

Sorry, I don't have the computer near me, as it's at my parent's house.
I may get back to this next time I visit or during summer vacation. I
don't know the state of it right now. It may have been scrapped; it's
about 10 years old.

It only happens with Spotify, yes. No, there is no dialogue except for
the normal 'are you sure you want to shut down'. Clicking 'shut down' in
that dialogue simply closes the open Spotify window, it does not quit
Spotify itself (Spotify still plays music and the indicator is still
there). It does
Ubuntu recently froze while I was transcoding using Handbrake. I had
suspended/awakened it previously. This is the third time for as long as
I've counted that this happens. The processor was at 100% usage for six
hours and it has a mild overclock, but I doubt that's the cause.

Random freezes when not s
I've added the 'kernel-fixed-upstream' tag and marked it 'Confirmed'.
Here's what happened:
Boot with new kernel. Freeze after a while.
Boot again. New freeze.
Boot again and suspend/resume. Didn't wait for result.
Boot again. Didn't freeze for a long time. At least 30 min. Didn't wait any
longer
PS: All boots with the new kernel.
