Hi Leann,
yes the described disk does indeed exist. The laptop I am using is a HP nc
8430. I have not installed 2.6.27-7.14, yet, but as you say, I also don't think
this will make a difference. Today I noticed that if I don't skip the boot menu
at startup immediately when it comes up then I don'
I also just noticed that my theory is not quite true. I shutdown,
restarted and waited for the boot menu to pass after 10 s thinking that
I will not have an error but I found myself in front of the initramfs
prompt! I shutdown and then booted into my windows partition, shut down
windows and started
As of today I cannot recreate the boot failure. Everything seems fixed.
Might it have to do with the new linux image? I will test a bit more.
Bug #47768 seems similar to this one.

Hi Leann,
this morning I used the laptop at home without a problem (copying some files to
and external drive) and when I got to work I had the same problem again
(droping to the BusyBox shell). I shall now reboot and see if I still have the
problem and if yes then I shall boot into windows to se
Ok Leann,
instead of booting into windows, I tried your idea rootdelay=60, and it seems
to work. I'll change the status to fixed again until I have the problem again.
Thank you.

@Michael Vogt: I use the free driver with ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 and
have the same issue, i.e. totem crashes when compiz is enabled.
@ Michael Martin: It seems that you can enable the proprietary driver
using the Driver option in Administration.
