I think I have found a way to cure this problem. I went to
"Edit->Preferences->Calendar and Tasks", select Alarm tab. There I
unchecked the Birthday & Anniveraries because I have no data in there.

client Ubuntu computer? Or is it on the Samba server which offer the shared
folder?
If it is on the client Ubuntu computer then is the option "security =

The calendar reminder in the task bar is blinking to remind an
apointment. When I click to display the appointment, it display a blank
appointment (no description). But when I am in the calendar, I saw the
appointment is set up with proper descr

I checked out a few more command line options and I found that if I use:
evolution --offline
Then I won't get the POP error message pop up on start up. But the nice
thing (may be not by design) is evolution will start as on-line mode
anyway and I still be able to get mail later just not at the sta
I too have the same problem. The light level pop up to show I change the
level up and down but the screen remain the same brightness.
