There is a workaround for the missing logout button:
Add the indicator applet session twice and make the menu bar 40 pixels wide.
the accessible logout button will always be on the second instance of the
applet that gets initiated. Therefore removing the first instance once you have

after enabling karmic-proposed and installing only the libglib-2.0-0
2.22.3-0ubuntu1 upgrade this issue was fixed for me.
I did delete the ~/.nautilus/metadata directory and restarted BEFORE upgrading.
Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

correction:
for me the problem is actually twofold: sharing printers via cups over the
local network does not work any more since the upgrade from jaunty to karmic
but the cups service seems to be running.
sharing printers via samba does not work, because samba complains that it
cannot find the

I found out, that for me the first problem mentioned above was actually not
with cups but, that avahi does not announce the cups printers properly any more.
