which had been running 13.04 without a problem.
At some point after several updates Dash started to take perhaps a minute to
open and generally now responds very slowly.

It did occur to me that it might be a BIOS issue. In any case I have now
upgraded the bios from A07 to A08 and the symptoms remain the same.
Following the BIOS update the output of terminal command is -
