I believe the Pango library needs to be updated to handle the new
combinations (~c + vowels and ~j + vowels) correctly. They have already
done the work of implementing the normal 'c' and 'j' combinations, so
the work of implementing '~c' and '~j' combinations should be easy.

FYI, this bug can be closed now.
The previous post describes the solution: install the language-pack-XX
package to get proper rendering for language XX in Firefox.

Public bug reported:
After upgrading to Xubuntu 15.04 (which uses the linux-
image-3.19.0-15-generic kernel), I can no longer type in my LUKS
passphrase (or even press Control-Alt-Delete to reboot the machine) at
boot using my Logitech K400 wireless USB keyboard.
Thankfully, the linux-image-3.16.
Running "xdotool key XF86Ungrab" fixes the problem, as explained at

I am using Firefox 3.6.10 in Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 Beta. I was able to
solve[1] this problem by adjusting the files in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ to
reflect my GNOME font settings (in my case, I use full hinting):
cd /etc/fonts/conf.d/
sudo rm 10-hinting-slight.conf
sudo ln -s ../conf.avail/10-hinting-fu
I applied the upstream patch to vte-0.25.91 and it solved the problem!
I have also notified upstream about this, asking them to incorporate the
patch so we can close this bug once and for all.

I recently switched from Ubuntu to ArchLinux (which provides a newer
2.14.0-2 version of the X.org Intel i810/i830/i915/945G/G965+ video

I think Ubuntu should just provide a newer version of the xserver-xorg-

The problems mentioned by Joseph Maillardet also occur on my ASUS UL30A
laptop which has Intel 4500MHD graphics.

A workaround for this entire problem is to NOT set up multiple layouts
in GNOME's keyboard preferences dialog. Instead, use the setxkbmap
command to manually switch between your desired keyboard layouts. For
example:
setxkbmap dvorak # switch to Dvorak
setxkbmap us # switch to QWERTY
