I seem to have encountered the same issue. I am running Ubuntu 6.06,
having updated from 4.10 through all the intervening versions.
Recently I purchased an IBM Model M keyboard to replace the no-name
keyboard I had been using. The old keyboard is a 105 key, gb layout. The
"new" (1988 vintage) one
I tried reinstalling Thunderbird using Synaptic and the problem goes
away for a few minutes but then returns. If someone can post how to get
the debug information (SylentBobNJ?) I will post it here.

I looked at the thunderbird error console and there were a lot of
references to lightning so I uninstalled the plugin, restarted
thunderbird and it seems to work. Reinstalled a fresh instance of the
plugin as well as gcal handler and it still seems to be working.

Some background first: I tried to do a distribution upgrade to Gutsy RC
1 and my machine froze. When I rebooted it reported that the primary
partition (dev1) was corrupted. So I did a fresh reinstall from the CD,
changed /etc/fstab to point /h
I don't know if this is the same problem but I have a Visioneer OneTouch
7300 which is available in the Preferences section of Simple Scan but
when I try to capture an image I get an error box that reads "Failed to
Scan Unable to connect to scanner".

A note for anyone else trying this, the scanner will seem very slow -
this is because it seems to default to scanning at the maximum
resolution. Reducing the resolution to something sensible for everyday
use speeds things up immen
