I was uder Intrepid and I upgraded to Jaunty with the automatic upgrade.
I lost the Wifi also. So I tried the workaround.
At the end of the install of linux backports, I got the message "E:

Upon returning from hibernate or suspend, the sound and video playback

Solved for me ! I was using a Gusty 32 bits on my Athlon 3000+ 64 bits
(Asus A8V-VM), and recently we had some kernels updates so Grub was
booting on a 2.6.22.xxx i386 (!) kernel. Booting the 2.6.22xxx Generic

Seems like Ubuntu won't work 'out of the box' with Hardy...If we can't
get a music library imported, this is just quite stressing. I still get

Why does my Hardy Beta can't play MIDI files yet ? I checked my
gstreamer-plugins-bad version, it's 0.10.6.5. Launching a MIDI in Totem
doesn't fail, I can see the bar moving, but no sound. When the track
ends, Totem asks about looking for new plugins, doesn't find any so end
up displaying "plugin

Indeed, the solution of vjshah from the previous post, is nearly working with
Ubuntu LTS 6.06 (Dapper Drake)
There is just some littles differences in the file naming and a stupid issue
with grub.
For those who read this thread, here is a corrected version for ubuntu

The deep sleep kernel command-line parameter had no discernible effect.
The laptop ran for me for 3 days on mains without the firmware crashing
and now just has after the first sleep. This was running 1.173.1
firmware so I will now downgrade and test.
