Same problem with 8.10. First time I tried it worked like a charm, but
now it doesn't anymore.

Public bug reported:
When blocking screen (or getting back from suspension) the password form
has two untranslated buttons: "Leave a message" and "Switch User" that
could be translated into "Lascia un messaggio" and "Cambia utente".

Update: the gnome-screensaver translation page (on launchpad) hasn't the
original form of "Leave meaasge" and "Switch user", so I wasn't able to
fix it using the official instruments.
** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)

When searching for "icedove" or for "iceweasel", you can find two packages

They're both in the "universe" repository and both depend on icedove (and

Thank you for answering!
I must say that after the last kernel upgrade (2.6.22-14-generic) the
problem *seems* to have disappeared. I'll upgrade the bug report as soon
as possible.
Anyway, I'm going to try the .24 and see what happens.
Thank you!

Same situation here, with the screen periodically jumping up in brightness.

Thank you for replying.
Here's the syslog extract as the complete syslog would also include the manual
connection attempt:
Mar 28 21:12:10 dragasacer dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found
under /com/redhat/dhcp/wlan0 for sub-path wlan0.dbus.get.reason
Mar 28 21:12:10 dragasacer Netw
I can confirm that the bug still exists. I've two AMD64 Hardy machines and both
of them are connected using the "static ip" via wireless.
One of the two is working perfectly with Gutsy, installed in another partition.
When booting, the wifi interfaces aren't ifupped and I have to do it manually.
More, I'd suggest to rise the "low" importance to "medium" or "high"
because it's quite a big problem for newbies and don't think that final
Hardy should get out with that.
