Matt, currently we do not provide user-mode-linux in ubuntu, and alot of
application that depend on it setting up uml fail with unmet
dependencies. As I see it, we either take the UML packages from debian
or else we'd need to come up with another solution to have UML
automatically installed, for us
see bug #2735 , this will have to wait until we come up with a nice
solution for user-mode-linux.

Thank you for taking the time to report the bug! I'm aware of this and
am currently exploring ways to integrate a better back end for the use
of hubackup called rdiff-backup, which will greatly reduce space
overhead when creating backups and will allow very slick restore
operation. In the mean whil

William, currently due to the reason Martin described in the previous
note, even if this rather minor bug is uploaded, it still doesn't make
too much sense since restoring archives needs a *lot* of work (just to

Hi, please provide the hubackup version you were using to get this

It seems that to even test this, we need to first sync the new version
which seems to have the ubuntu changes already.
Please sync this from debian then, so we could continue and improve on
that for ubuntu.

okay, thanks. I will most probably have backported debs for people who
want to test the new version on previous releases to fesity/edgy, when
the current code base becomes more stable.

I've found a redundent wpa key specification in the
/etc/network/interfaces file. I've removed it, and oddly (as I believe
this has nothing to do with powering a NIC on and off) the NIC seems to
obey ifup ifdown again. Now the problem is reduced to too frequent
disconnects, link drop outs while in

Matt, shouldn't we allow people to do that and confirm they understand
the risk on the same prompt ? That is, when detecting such an error
occurred, we offer the user to run the "manual" fsck and have him attend
to the critical , possibly involving data loss error by fsck.

Command-line recover
If my "backend" you mean to have some sort of command line tool to
create backups, thi is already possible using the BackupEngine.py
hubackup backend. Browse the source or so, and see how it's possible to
invoke it from the command line.

I am a bit in a culture shock to see this bug trail. I said back in 2006
and I'm repeating myself now. We need an Ubuntu local system tools
package. That would suite and co-operate nicely with all the new quirks
Ubuntu now uses (upstart being an example).

Also, why not offer some funding to Carlos to do that work? He'd be
happy to and there were always talks about funding him to put some more
polish into gnome-system-tools. This could benefit the entire community
which is using GST.

I've started a discussion about the right way to solve this with Alex

his design of the issue. I will work on a patch upstream soon.
