The rt61 driver for used in the 2.6.20-14-generic kernel from Feisty
causes hard lockups with my Edimax EW-712BG wireless card after about
2-3 minutes of run time. I had to blacklist the rt61 and rt61pci

This is now a very serious bug for me, evolution and other packages now
seem to depend on network-manager. Before, I had removed the package and
configured things manually. Now, I can't remove network-manager and I

Apparently in Edgy, usplash now "uses the resolution of the [splash]
image without checking whether your display supports it". So maybe
there's no image of a suitable size for our screens in the default theme

The default 'if all else fails' resolution for the ubuntu usplash theme

the themes so 640x480 comes first then I get a splash (although it looks
a bit messy -- tested by sudo usplash -c). Will reboot now and test.
