I've not noticed it, however I've also upgraded to kernel version
2.6.24-19-generic, and have not noticed it.
I guess that this can be closed off then, and efforts directed to the
other power management issues that people have raised bug reports on.

Unless Canonical wants liability for
a) Individual user's destroyed hardware
b) Crippling reputation damages, especially against the 'new to linux' groups
