After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 today, if I use Evolution with KDE
many of the icons appear to just have a red X. If I run Evolution in
Gnome the icons appear to be correct/normal.

11.10->12.04->12.10->13.04 and it has never been an issue in the pa
Yes, I am now using Evolution on 10.04 Lucid and it still has the same
problem (see attachment). I should also note that I did a clean install
of Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid and it was not an upgrade this time. I no longer
have Gnome installed so I cannot tell you if the icons are okay when
running Gnome
I ran strace as you asked, it made a huge file. I'm attaching it.
