I do not know who/what handles graphic drivers on the install medium
THe exact same install medium installs fine on machine with intel
graphic card. So something with nvidia.

I cannot reproduce this exactly. I had one computer that would not boot
to an X environement. But was able to startx. Nvidia card. Installed on
computer with Intel card no problem.
In short, we need those logs to be able to get anywhere on this bug.

Yes I admitted above to not having a clue where to assign this bug. It
is only on install as this laptop has a functional xenial running (was
testing last daily ) and startx works fine after switching alt + f2 so I
am not convinced x stack is at fault.

So yeah, it is true that it is installed on all of the above. And
through further investigation it is a matter of our ISO is already
oversized due to the sheer size of KDE. I can't promise that we can get
this one there as gcc does not come alone and needs more dependencies.

First Dapper is EOL. Second the original problem is installed kubuntu-
desktop inside a full installation. This should now create a new session
to login, if not a new bug needs to be created with a supported release.
If gtk2-engines-qt is still broken then it needs to be filed under that

This package is not an official KDE project. It has been abandoned by it
owner as far as I can tell. The problem is that it is a qt4 build and
will not work in qt5 environment. Someone will have to port it to qt5,
which out of scope for Kubuntu. The package has been removed until this
port happens.
Yes, I will get back to tackling the rest of these next week. (on the road this
weekend) So sorry for the delay, there is only one of me working on these.
Next LTS will not be so hard to keep up with. Changing workflows really hit
hard with trusty. Again my sincerest apologies.
