Well, I'm running Karmic Beta, and I dl/ed the 2.6.31-7-rt version of the
kernel.
I installed version 8.660 of fglrx.
I booted X, and X booted, but started in Metacity, w/compiz unable to start.
It seems like dkms didn't (or couldn't) compile an fglrx module for the rt
kernel, as I see none run
I installed your version of the fglrx package from your PPA, no go.
The module still wasn't loaded upon boot. When running 'sudo dkms build
-m fglrx -v 8.660', I get:
Kernel preparation unnecessary for this kernel. Skipping...

cleaning build area

SUCCESS!!
At least on kernel 2.6.31-8-rt and driver 2.8.660-0ubuntu30
Let me know if I should test on any other kernels

Lastly, the copy was from a local disk to an SMB fileshare on the NAS.
If there's any more info I can provide, let me know (as well as a way
to use apport in the future that doesn't spam this bug obnoxiously with
singular file attachments)
