I also had this problem (Ubuntu 15.04) and noticed, that I had
/usr/bin/wish8.6, but no /usr/bin/wish. Creating a soft link 'wish'
pointing to wish8.6 solved the issue. I assume that the method laid out
in #3 effectively does the same thing.

Same thing here, total memory consumed by udisks-daemon seems to
correlate with size of USB stick to be formatted. There has to be a less
memory consuming way to format an 8GB USB stick, yes?

qtcreator version provided by KUbuntu 15.04, but it shows up in a less
annoying way now: Copy&Paste, and many similar operations no longer
produce the hang, but holding down Ctrl and hovering the mouse over some
code parts still causes

It's been well over a year since this bug was reported and confirmed,
and with Ubuntu 13.04 it's still there in its full glory. From looking
through strace and wireshark logs it becomes evident that the web server
reports a file as x-octetstream, and instead of using file magic to
determine the act
Fixed by upgrading python-gobject to 3.0.0-0ubuntu4. F2 still doesn't
work, but clicking does.

I have exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 11.04. Nothing happens when I
insert an SD card (and I tried several cards). The syslog is not
responding. I am sure the card reader is not broken, because it still
worked last week in windows before I installed Ubuntu.

in the latest kernel-version 2.6.38-10 the bug do not further occur.
The problem seams to be solved.
