Here are the steps to reproduce the bug:
1) Start up Kubuntu-8.10 from the desktop Install CD.
2) Open K -> Applications -> System -> Terminal
3) type "sudo apt-get install gnome-sudoku" and press Enter
4) type "gnome-sudoku" and press Enter

I am using Ubuntu with the German locale and have the same problem. The text is
not completely visible. Lines are cut off (see attached screenshot). Because
the window is not resizeable, the only chance you have is to select all the
text and paste it into a text editor.

Now I tried 8.10 Beta and it became even worse...
X does not start up at all. The installation CD just gave me a text
prompt after booting finished. I tried starting X manually but all I got

I just tried both the Ubuntu-8.10 and Kubuntu-8.10 desktop installation
CDs. Ubuntu started up fine but with a wrong resolution (My display is a
Dell 2007FP with a native resolution of 1600x1200 but Ubuntu chose
1024x768) but Kubuntu produced just some garbage on the screen wh

hardy and pygtk in intrepid? (it works on hardy after all)

the threads enter/leave pair is the best choice given pida's
architecture
we where unable to figure why the different gtk/pygtk versions act so different
on that pair,

An additional info: It reproduceably happens whenever I call "sudo

I have a HP Elitebook 2730p. lspci shows my WLAN adapter as follows:

Happened while running suspend_test Test#2.
ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly. The resume processing hung very near the end and will have
appeared to have completed normally.

I just tried out Ubuntu 9-04 beta and stumbled over this option. I am a long
time Linux user and was extremely confused by this wording. I don't think I am
an idiot but my first thoughts were exactly "Why the hell would anybody want to
mirror his/her screen? May for backlight projectors...?".

I am writing this comment with the latest Kubuntu 9.04 Beta Live CD. I can not
reproduce the display corruption but the resolution is still wrong: 1280x1024
instead of the native display resolution of 1600x1200.
I also attached the output of lspci -vvnn.

Opening "About Kubuntu" just presents the error message "The file or folder
help:/kubuntu/about-kubuntu does not exist." and in the KDE Help Center the

I just tried out Alpha5.
While it is now possible to boot up the installation CD, it is only possible to
use a resolution of 800x600 instead of the 1280x1024 the display normally is
able to show.
After installation the GUI does not show up. I am stuck in text mode...
