On the Feisty Herd Live CDs the bootsplash no longer shows a progress
bar that denotes how far along the boot process is. Instead a small
section of bar bounces back and forth until the machine boots or you get
frustrated and restart. Without a progress bar or kernel messages
Well it does. Right until the computer comes up. I never get a bar that
denotes progress. I can understand the need to have a waiting signal
till that's calculated but I just have a "throbber" until I start to see
the Desktop
