Have your tried with the newer "Gutenprint" driver? This is the package
cupsys-driver-gutenprint (in dapper and edgy only). It has much
improved colour quality.
The escputil tool will let you print a test pattern out to check for
blocked nozzles in the printhead. It will also do head alignment

plays no part in managing the CUPS print queue.

Gutsy Beta won't automount windows partitions whereas feisty does and
gutsy tribe release on my laptop does.

Got my sound working on a new Gateway ML3108b laptop using a patched
ALSA 1.0.15-rc3 (as described on the Fedora link above). You also need
to APT the gettext package as the alsa-utils won't make without it.
Transferring a copy of my OGG library as I type.
