I would really like to know what needs to be done to fix this. I get the
same on every install and updates are quite tedious waiting for it to
time out on IPv6 addresses.

I have install Ubuntu 17.10 64 bit server and set a static IP address as
well as an IPv6 address. I have also tried using DHCP6 as well. I can
ping locally any address on the same VLAN. I cannot ping outside of the
local addresses. This is a new install on a Dell R710 running
I have the same problem with black text on the menus. I have installed
on two Compaq Evo N610C laptops and both have black text instead of
white. This happens using the live cd and on the installed system. When
running the live cd on my Compaq Presario V6000, the text appears
correctly in white.

The N610C has the ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 4X AGP graphics controller
while the Presario V6000 has NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphic cards with
NVIDIA nForce Go 430 chipset. The text on the Netbook edition launcher
appears white on the Presario but black on the N610C.
