Hi,
I believe I am having a similar problem, although I do not have RAID on
my system. Booting my custom built 2.6.22 works fine, but booting the
current kernel (2.6.24-16 I believe) results in a shell and being told
that the disk cannot be mounted because the device or resource is busy.

Thanks for your help Frodon. Unfortunately using "all_generic_ide" did
not fix the issue, but changing the disk from /dev/disk/by-uuid/ to
/dev/mapper/nvidia_... in menu.lst resolved the problem :D

Personally I prefer the non notification-daemon notifications. With
NotifyOSD Configuration it is possible to change the style (especially
text size, which seems to be much larger in the notification-daemon
notifications) and I can choose where the notifications appear using
"gsettings set com.cano
Futher to what Richard said, if you want to convert a number from hex to
decimal and then do some other operations in decimal then you have to do
this:
1. Open calculator
2. Switch to programming mode from the Application menu
3. Switch to Hexadecimal input
4. Enter 80 and press return (the number
