The difference is that I can't log in. So it dies before it asks me to
login.
The workaround is to boot into an old kernel.

AMD hybrid video. Fglrx drivers are not installed, so it's effectively
an Intel HD4000 Display adapter.
Displayport monitor randomly blacks out, usually during load (playing
videos, audio, or both).
Turning on debugging in the drm module,
I'm seeing a similar issue. I posted it to bug# 1299663.

Hey, thanks for pointing out my bios was out of date (*duh*).
I updated it and the dropouts have appeared to disappear.I'm going
to close this, and then reopen it if I see problems again.

Sequence to trigger the bug:
Note: This requires a working install of linux with grub and windows
already.
1. Install debian testing netinstall via unetbootin on a usb stick.
2. Install ubuntu via unetbootin on the same usb stick without
